Empty Room

The car sat idle as I imagined going somewhere but I had no intention of going anywhere. I turned the key knowing I could have driven away from here. I could be on the road now heading somewhere far away from her but I’m walking towards the front door with keys in hand.

The first drops of rain falls before I open the door to the empty apartment. In my mind I see things as though they have not changed. I want to go back to before but it’s only an imagined version of my life.
